WA's Water Breakfast is bigger and better this year!! Join us as we celebrate our Inaugural WA Legends of Water at this year's event which will take place on Thursday 25th July at the Westin, Perth or via webinar.

WA's First Legends of Water Announced

With so many incredible people shaping the WA water sector it's been an incredible effort from our WA Branch Committee and Working Group to determine who to announce as our Inaugural WA Legends of Water. Please join us as we celebrate our Inaugural WA Legends! 

The event will consist of a plated breakfast, presentations and chat with our Legends to hear how they have shaped WA's water sector throughout their careers, what they learned along the way and in hindsight, would they have changed anything? You'll need to join us to find out!
 This is just the first of our WA Water Legends - there are so many more to announce along the way!

Meet WA's Legends of Water 2024

 

susan worley

Susan Worley, Water Planning Advisor and Mentor,
Former Director Department of Water and Environmental Regulation 

Since 1995 Susan has been involved in water resources management in WA with leadership roles in planning, regional delivery and community education including planning for water allocation, water source protection, urban water and non-potable water supply. While that work was shaped by the contemporary context, particularly climate change, it was also greatly informed by Susan’s accumulated experiences as manager of water allocation planning and regional manager north west, and as an educator with DWER (and its predecessors). Through all Susan’s roles she has had the good fortune to work with and learn from many people.

Susan retired from the public sector in 2021 and continues to contribute to the water sector through advisory, mentoring, consulting and support roles including; Water Sensitive Cities Australia advisory board, Watertrust Australia influence advisory group, WA’s Water Sensitive Transition Network, friend of the Peter Cullen Trust, Water Corporation Steering Committee member and AWA member.

Josh Byrne
Director, Josh Byrne & Associates 
Josh is an environmental scientist and urban design professional who engages in projects testing innovation, capacity building and shares learnings with stakeholders and the wider community. His long association with applied research in urban sustainability and research expertise span high performance housing, water sensitive design and sustainable urban development.

Josh is recognised as one of Australia’s leading sustainability communicators, is a presenter on Gardening Australia, contributes regularly to radio and print media and has authored three sustainable gardening and low carbon living books. Josh is a respected voice to state government, is a board member of the Waste Authority of WA, the Botanic Parks and Gardens Authority and sits on the WA State Government Design Review Panel.


 

Peter Moore

Peter Moore PSM, Director, PD Moore Consulting Pty Ltd 
Former Chief Operating Office, Water Corporation

Peter has a long history in the water sector which commenced in 1970 and includes being the Project Manager for the establishment of the Water Corporation in 1996 when he joined the Executive Team. Peter was the Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2017, at which time he retired from the Water Corporation. He subsequently became the CEO of the Construction Contractors Association of WA and undertakes consulting work through his own consultancy firm.

Peter has a wealth of experience across the water sector including governance issues and major civil infrastructure delivery. In 2016 Peter was awarded the Public Service Medal for his service to the public of Western Australia and the Water Industry. Peter is a past President of the Australian Water Association and was recently award the AWA's Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the Association.

Corporate Tables
In order to secure a full table all tickets must be purchased as individual tickets so that we can collect each individual's relevant contact details. Tables will consist of eight (8) persons. If you wish to purchase a full table, you will need to purchase eight (8) individual tickets - simply select the "or add multiple" option displayed under a ticket type and input the quantity required.
