WA Water Breakfast 2023
REGISTRATION HAS NOW CLOSED. Do you want to build your professional network as we explore Flooding in WA: Risk, Recovery and Resilience?
In January 2023, the town of Fitzroy Crossing was devastated by floods and left isolated for weeks. This was the first flooding event for some years in WA that had an impact approaching the scale seen much more regularly on the east coast of Australia in recent years. Climate change modelling, however, tells us that more intense rainfall events will be more frequent.
At this year’s Annual Water Breakfast our guest speakers and panel will discuss how WA is preparing for an expected increase in risk of major flood events. What have we learnt from Fitzroy Crossing and how are we placed to recover from such events across WA? How should we prepare so that our infrastructure can be more resilient? What role do water sensitive urban design and nature-based solutions have in contributing to this resilience?
We invite you to join the WA Branch Committee on Tuesday 1 August for our annual Water Breakfast consisting of a plated breakfast, presentations and facilitated panel discussion. A coffee cart will be able before and after the Perth event.
