The NSW Branch is once again celebrating the Legends of Water for 2021! This is a night not to be missed as we recognise the leaders of the NSW water industry.
The NSW Legends of Water Dinner recognises the achievements of water industry leaders who have not only been committed to creating a more sustainable water future but have dedicated their careers to promoting the importance of water in their respective fields. This annual event brings together attendees from across the water sector.

NSW Legends of Water for 2021
Lisa Currie Principal, Water, Aurecon
Lisa Currie is Aurecon’s Client Leader for Sydney Water. She has worked in the Australian water industry for more than 20 years. With qualifications in both engineering and business administration, Lisa has held a variety of technical, project delivery and management roles in both the private and public sector. Her experience spans from drinking water, wastewater and recycled water process engineering, project delivery and operations, to water strategy and policy development, water sensitive urban design, sustainability, advocacy for regulatory reform and organisational change management. Lisa is passionate about creating more sustainable, climate resilient and liveable places through water sensitive urban design and integrated water cycle management.

Wayne Beatty Water & Sewerage Manager (Strategic), Orange City Council
Wayne has a broad range of experience in the Local Government Water Industry, having delivered multiple infrastructure projects as well as operating and maintaining water supply and sewerage systems over the last 30 years. As Chair of the Water Directorate, Wayne leads discussions on a range of issues affecting the water industry in regional NSW and is conversant with both technical and policy issues affecting the industry both regionally and statewide. Wayne has a strong passion for the Water Industry in Regional NSW and is always keen to promote the excellent service delivery that water utilities in regional NSW provides to their customers.

David Kirby Utilities Manager, Brewarrina Shire Council
Born and raised in Brewarrina, David is a proud First Nation Ngemba man and Grazier from the Northwest Flood Plains of NSW. David’s life has revolved around water with a deep spiritual connection as a custodian of the oldest man made structure on earth, Baiame Ngunnghu (Brewarrina Fishtraps), which is testament to the first recorded aquaculture and water management by humans on earth. David has been able to continue this through both Rural and Urban Water being the Utilities Manager at Brewarrina Shire Council for the past 12 years, as well as volunteering in a number of community groups and forums.

The Australian Water Association has closely followed Government recommendations to develop COVIDSafe Guidelines for AWA events going forward. These guidelines will be in place at this event and have been developed to ensure attendee health and safety. Your support is also essential to keep this event COVIDSafe. We ask that delegates observe good hygiene and physical distancing at the event, where possible. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the event. Please email events@awa.asn.au at least 24 hours prior to the event if you are unable to attend due to illness. Under these circumstances a transfer of your registration to a colleague will be accepted at no cost. Late cancellations may attract a cancellation fee. Refunds will not be provided for no shows.
