The Urban Water National Performance Report has documented increased capital investment in the urban water sector over the last 10 years. According to the Water Services Association of Australia, member's capital expenditure is predicted to double nationally by 2027 to over $10 billion every year to meet increasing urban growth, aging infrastructure and challenges posed by climate change. In a cost of living crisis how does the water sector engage with customers and regulators to meet the needs and expectations for a fair and equitable water supply for liveable cities. At this year’s breakfast, we will hear from four industry leaders to discuss this challenge.

Stuart Wilson, Deputy Executive Director, Water Services Association of Australia Stuart Wilson is the Deputy Executive Director of the Water Services Association of Australia. He oversees policy and advocacy on regulatory, pricing and reform issues. Before joining WSAA he worked at Sydney Water as Principal Economist and Manager, Regulatory Strategy and Pricing for 7 years. During that time he oversaw a number of regulatory price reviews. He was also heavily involved in the first Access case under Part IIIA of the Trade Practices Act. |

Alexandra Humphrey Cifuentes Alexandra Humphrey Cifuentes is an economist in Frontier Economics’ urban economics and water practice, focusing on using economics to help address challenges and opportunities posed by urban growth and climate change across water, liveability and other social infrastructure. This includes advice on the value of water and the nexus between sustainable development and water security. |

Stuart Wallace Stuart is a communications professional with more than 25 years’ experience in media, government and the public sector, delivering outcomes to meet the expectations of customers and the community. He has extensive experience in providing strategic advice and communications leadership as part of the record investment in NSW transport and road infrastructure, including Sydney Metro. Stuart has more than 20 years’ experience at some of Australia’s biggest radio and television networks, with the majority of his time at Seven News, including 11 years as Deputy News Director in Sydney. Since joining Sydney Water, Stuart was the Head of Strategic Communications and CSR before being appointed the General Manager, Customer and Stakeholder Engagement. As General Manager he now oversees Customer and Strategic Insights, Government, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, as well as Brand, Media and Marketing, and Strategic Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility. |
