NSW/ACT YWP Mentoring Program Launch Oct 2023

Please join us for the NSW/ACT YWP Mentoring Program 2023/24

The NSW/ACT YWP Mentoring Program pairs students, young professionals and industry representatives across the Metropolitan and Regional areas for a structured 8-month program. The program fosters skill enhancement, while providing a means to transfer valuable experience and expertise. We’ll help you understand how to navigate a meaningful mentor/mentee relationship and get the most from the experience. Throughout the program, various development topics will be covered including goals setting, work-life balance, communicating and networking.

Mentors and mentees alike can benefit from the committed two-way partnership.

By registering for the program you will be partnered with a mentor or mentee, receive a mentoring handbook, a monthly email with discussion topics, tips and webinars, and access to the launch and closing events.

The Launch Event will be held on 19 October 2023, and will provide you with some insight on why mentoring is important, the roles of the mentee and mentor, some tips and tricks to make the most of the program and key focus areas for this year’s program.

How does the Mentoring Program work?

1. Register for the program by (see application link below). You will be asked to answer a few questions for us to help understand how best the program can help you. This information will be shared with mentors/mentees to assist in the matching process. Please ensure you do not include any sensitive career information that you do not wish to have shared.
   
   
2. Mentor/Mentee pairing will be completed and you will be advised of your pairing.
   
   
3. Opportunity to participate in a meet & greet event on Thursday 19 October 2023 in Sydney. You will have an opportunity to meet with a range of different water professionals who have registered to be in the program. This is an informal event and a potential opportunity for mentors or mentees to meet in a group environment (virtual event date pending number of available participants).
   
   
4. Mentoring pairs agree on how often you will meet and how you will contact each other. The NSW AWA YWP Mentoring Coordinators will send out information on occasion to help spark discussion points or ideas. The program runs for 8 months but your relationship doesn’t have to end there - some mentoring relationships last a lifetime!

This year's Launch Event will be a hybrid event (i.e. online and in-person), see the location, time and speakers will be announced in a few weeks.

Registration 

Registration is $50 for mentees and free for mentors. 

Please note that during the registration process there are a number of questions that will need to be answered so as to ensure you are paired as best we can.

Mentors and Mentees registrations close 11 October 2023.
