VIC Technical Event - Moonee Ponds Creek Tour

Join us for an exclusive site tour of the recently completed Reimagining Moonee Ponds Creek project. This tour offers a unique opportunity to hear from a variety of stakeholders and explore the transformative efforts aimed at revitalizing a section of Moonee Ponds Creek.

About the Project: Melbourne Water is leading the delivery of the project on behalf of the Chain of Ponds Collaboration and in partnership with Merri-bek City Council, Moonee Valley City Council, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and Jacobs.

The project focuses on creating a healthier waterway with improved biodiversity, increased amenity for the community and the opportunity to experience Wurundjeri culture. Learn more about how the collaborative design approach delivered the:

  • Removal of concrete walls and replacement with natural rockwork to create a meandering creek.
  • Planting of 43,000 native trees and shrubs.
  • Construction of new shared paths and bridge.
  • Development of the Wilami Wunmabil - cultural immersion trail highlighting Wurundjeri cultural and natural  values.
