Welcome to Winter, South Australia!

Careers in Water updates

Jobs Board:
We are excited to share that our new Careers in Water website and Jobs Board has been formally launched. Listing your jobs will utilise your AWA corporate member benefit, maximise the extra launch promotions driving traffic to the Jobs Board and also presents visitors with the 'boundless opportunities' available in the water sector. Check out the video for further information.

Schools Pilot Program:
Since the commencement of our Careers in Water Subcommittee we’ve had two events with local Adelaide All-girls School, St Mary’s College.

On 18th May, three enthusiastic members of our Careers in Water subcommittee volunteered at the St Mary’s College STEM Community Day. We joined universities, various trades, and other exhibitors for an engaging and sunny afternoon. This event provided a fantastic opportunity to interact with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders, showcasing exciting career options in the water sector and the benefits of joining our network. We gained valuable insights into how to effectively communicate with school versus university students. This will significantly impact how we promote careers in water to the younger community!

Our subcommittee was again invited to support our SA All-Girls School and their Leader of Learning and Innovation. The Year 7 incursion program celebrates diversity in the water sector, showcasing various job opportunities for young women. Students will explore design thinking to solve real-world problems. They also learn about the Junior Stockholm Prize and engage in a "10,000 Steps" challenge, highlighting the distance many girls walk to access clean water in developing countries. This program inspires future leaders and encourages innovative thinking processes for global water issues. Our subcommittee members volunteered their time to attend, share their stories and interesting ways to think beyond the classroom.
