Welcome to Queensland Anna Jackson
Anna Jackson is the Chief Executive Officer of Unitywater, based in South East Queensland. Previously the General Manager Customer and Commercial at SA Water, she is enjoying exploring her new surroundings in South East Queensland and is passionate about providing sustainable services to 800,000 people from Noosa to Moreton Bay.
What drew you into the water industry?
The concept of equitable access to water services internationally was what first attracted me, followed closely by the amazing diversity of interesting work. I’m a firm believer that people who have values of service are drawn to this industry, and this drives a positive culture.
Who or what do you draw inspiration from?
I’m always inspired by people who live with genuine daily challenge, such as no easy access to clean water, or people living with a debilitating illness or disability, who manage to not only to cope, but influence and change things for others.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Swimming in or rowing on the Maroochy River, walks with the dogs, finding and cooking local farmers market produce, watching my daughter play soccer, reading the nature books curated by my environment-loving mother.
What do you believe is currently the greatest challenge for your part of the water industry?
Balancing the needs of our customers today with the investment needed for future infrastructure and the protection of our natural assets.
How do you consider your organisation benefits from most by being a corporate member of the Australian Water Association?
Ideas and connectivity for perspective to help you feel like you are part of something greater.
What messages would you like to give to your colleagues in the Queensland water sector?
Unitywater is finding new ways to be smarter in addressing the issues facing our sector in South East Queensland. I look forward to working with you to create opportunities and ideas for the future.
