September saw us enter spring and also saw the settling of dust for the new Victorian Branch and Young Water Professionals committees, which began at the start of the Financial Year.
I am honoured to have been re-elected to the Victorian YWP sub-committee by our members and to enjoy the confidence of my committee to be Chair for the FY22-23. Similarly, I am excited to be working alongside Shay Xie (Eurofins and new Vic Branch President) to deliver more AWA in-person and hybrid initiatives to better connect, share and inspire water professionals across the sector after a tough few years of limited interaction.
A big thank you and shout out to Georgina Catto-Smith (Jacobs), who was previously in the YWP Chair role of which I’ve got big shoes to fill and also to Immediate Past President Amanda Hazell (Veolia) for steering the committees over the past FY.
We’ve started with a bang with several Victorian AWA initiatives already, such as the Circular Economy and Planetary Boundaries events; along with the recent fully-booked YWP Regional Study Tour in which there was a buzz of activity as YWPs gathered from across the state to check out the Barwon South West region and hear on projects and innovations across the sector.
I hope to see a few familiar faces at upcoming AWA events, so do say hi and suggest how we can improve the branch!
