Victorian Young Water Professionals celebrate at 2024 Ball
The Victorian branch of the Australian Water Association (AWA) recently hosted the annual Young Water Professionals (YWP) Ball, bringing together emerging leaders from across the water sector for a night of celebration and connection.
Held in June at the San Remo Ballroom in Melbourne, Catherine Corkill and Sophie Barton welcomed attendees with networking activities as co-hosts for the evening. The event delighted attendees with a vibrant carnival theme, complete with colourful decorations, lively entertainment, and a festive atmosphere.
This year’s ball attracted a record number of participants from various sectors of the water industry, all gathering to network, celebrate, and discuss the future of the profession. The evening was highlighted by an inspiring keynote address from Bill Robinson, a seasoned expert in strategic planning, water resources infrastructure design, and digital transformation. Bill shared his insights on the evolving challenges and opportunities within the water sector, reflecting on his learnings as President of Yarra Pools and co-chair for the Smart Water Network Digital Twin Working Group.
The AWA extends its heartfelt thanks to the event’s sponsors, CMP and Steel Mains, whose support was instrumental in making the night a success. Their ongoing commitment to supporting the development of the next generation of water professionals was clearly evident and greatly appreciated. Daniel Chen took the stage on behalf of Steel Mains to address the attendees, sharing their perspectives on the critical role of young professionals in shaping the future of the water industry.
As the evening unfolded, guests enjoyed a night of fine dining, entertainment, and lively conversation, all in the festive spirit of the carnival theme. The YWP Ball continues to be a highlight of the Victorian water sector’s social calendar, fostering connections and celebrating the contributions of those who will lead the industry into the future.
The AWA looks forward to continuing to support young professionals through events like the YWP Ball, as they drive innovation and excellence within the water sector.
