A recap of the SA October Sundowner
Over 35 attendees heard a very interesting talk from Mert Inanç Emir.
On February 6, 2023, a series of powerful earthquakes struck south-eastern Turkey, close to the Syrian border. These earthquakes, accompanied by numerous aftershocks, caused extensive devastation on both sides of the border, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives in both nations, displacement of millions from their homes and causing significant harm to vital infrastructure. These have been some of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in the last century, prompting a global humanitarian response at the request of the Turkish Government.
In collaboration with its shareholder, Hitachi Zosen of Japan, Osmoflo, led by Mert Inanç Emir, has donated three containerised water treatment plants to provide safe drinking water access to thousands of displaced local residents. These assets are designed to handle three different types of feedwater and will supply over 1400m³/day to the affected region. They were shipped from Osmoflo’s headquarters in June and have now arrived in the impacted city of Malatya, and are already installed and commissioned.
