The Centre brings together world-class water and spatial science experts from within the UWA Schools of Agriculture and Environment, Earth Sciences and Engineering.
Experts at the new Centre include environmental engineers, environmental scientists, geographers, and hydrogeologists who tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges facing communities in urban and regional areas.
But I hear you asking what's a hydrogeologist?
Hydrogeologists study the properties of and manage water resources by performing extensive field surveys and laboratory research.
The Centre was established on the foundation of long-standing expertise and a history of success in the field of geography, environmental science, and engineering in Western Australia. The Centre is designed to 'seek new water knowledge in a changing climate’.
Co-Director Associate Professor Sally Thompson MIEAust, said the Centre for Water and Spatial Science aims to establish UWA as a leading research partner in the fields of hydrology and water in the environment, utilising advanced geospatial tools and data science to understand those issues.
“As part of the launch of the Centre for Water and Spatial Science, Engineers Australia was invited to participate. This was a wonderful opportunity for the centre, and we hope to develop active partnerships with Engineers Australia in the future”,

Ms Kreemer Pickford said it’s great to see engineers leading and contributing to world-class research focused on field and process understanding, modelling, and spatial sciences in collaboration with industry and end-users.
