What drew you to the water industry and why?

Even back at university the main technical area I was interested in was water treatment. As I progressed my career I was able to see how diverse the work within the water industry was, from civil construction, maintenance and modelling to stakeholder engagement, treatment and digital technology, and that all those areas have a very real impact to real people in the real world. In the water industry we can make a huge difference for our local communities but I also think that comes with an obligation to support water improvement in the developing world.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career in water so far?

To been working closely with users, utility staff and regulators as part of implementing third pipe recycled water services to residential homes in NSW

What are you hoping to achieve being part of the TAS Branch Committee?

To connect people who are passionate about the water industry and drive lasting improvement for Tasmania

If you were deserted on an island what 3 things would you want?

  1. A safe and secure water supply!
  2. My guitar and a lifetime supply of strings
  3. My favourite book

What drew you to the water industry and why?
My engineering studies gave me the opportunity to do work experience at City of Launceston and Ben Lomond Water, two reputable organizations in the water industry. After graduating, I joined Ben Lomond Water/TasWater as a graduate engineer. I have enjoyed working with various water assets and facing different challenges in this sector.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career in water so far?

One of the most rewarding aspects solving unique and challenging problems. Working in the water industry also allows me to meet different people from different backgrounds and roles. I enjoy learning from their experiences and perspectives and collaborating with them to solve problems and improve performance. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to grow and develop my skills and knowledge in the water industry.

What are you hoping to achieve being part of the SA Branch Committee?

I am looking forward to participating in the AWA Tasmanian branch and contributing to the planning and execution of various events. I hope to network with many wonderful people and learn from their experiences and insights.
