Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) has welcomed three new directors to its Board, with the appointments expected to help the water corporation address future challenges.
Mark Stone AM has been appointed Board Chair, and Tammy Atkins and Denis Flett have been appointed as Directors.
GVW Managing Director Peter Quinn said their appointments would complement the current Board’s expertise by adding experience from diverse backgrounds.
"We warmly welcome Mark, Tammy and Denis to Goulburn Valley Water, as our Board continues to guide the business to contribute to healthy and prosperous regional communities,” Quinn said.
Stone currently heads a business advisory company and has an extensive understanding of regional issues, having lived and worked in many parts of Victoria, including the Goulburn Valley.
He was previously the CEO of Parks Victoria and the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has also held roles with the Premier’s Jobs and Investment Panel, as Co-Chair of the Victorian Aboriginal Economic Board, Board Member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CEO of Tourism Victoria.
Stone was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2016 and is currently a member of the Premier’s Special Advisory Council for Bushfire Recovery Victoria.
Tammy Atkins has experience working with all levels of government and is involved in a diverse range of community organisations, and is currently a business consultant with an interest in regional policy and economic development.
Atkins is also a Director of Wodonga TAFE, has served on the North East Catchment Management Authority Board, the Winton Wetlands Committee of Management and is a former elected Councillor for the Rural City of Wangaratta.
Denis Flett has 45 years’ experience in the water sector, including in engineering, management, leadership, governance and environmental stewardship.
Flett was the foundation CEO of Goulburn-Murray Water, Victorian Commissioner for the Murray-Darling Basin Commission, Deputy Chair of North East Water, a principal of DG Consulting, and Chairperson of the Victorian Environmental Water Holder.
