A hydrographer who started his career at Water Corporation has been appointed chairman of the West Australian utility.
State Water Minister Mia Davies has welcomed Mike Hollett to the role after his five years of service on the board.
“Mr Hollett brings a wealth of experience to the position and his proven record in water-sensitive urban design adds tremendous value to this role,” she said.
After beginning his career at Water Corporation, Hollett moved into property development in the private sector.
He is the director of Ocean Gardens Retirement Village and H&H Development Enterprises, a former chief executive officer of the National Lifestyle Village Group and a former chairman of the Pilbara Development Commission.
Hollett took over from outgoing chairwoman Eva Skira, who finished her five-year term at the end of December.
“Under the leadership and vision of Ms Skira, the Water Corporation has continued to deliver a safe and reliable water service to more than two million West Australians, and she leaves the utility in a very strong position,” Davies said.
Fellow board member David Lock has been appointed as deputy chairman.
“I look forward to working with Mr Hollett and Mr Lock as they bring their wide-ranging experience and skills to their new roles,” Davies said.
The Board of Directors also includes David Rowe, Nicole Lockwood, Ross Holt and Sue Murphy (CEO).
An additional board member will be appointed in the near future.
