The Australian Water Association’s International Coordinator, Huy Van Tran has been recognised in Vietnam’s Golden Globe Awards for Young Talent in Science and Technology.
The Golden Globe Award for Young Talent in Science and Technology is a highly prestigious award, organised by the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU CC) in association with the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The award honors Vietnamese young talents who have outstanding achievement in research study in five areas including Environment, Biology Technology, Medicine Technology, New Materials, and Information and Technology.
Huy has been recognised for his cutting-edge research into membrane water treatment technologies and his efforts to connect the Australian and Vietnamese water sectors.
“Huy has been a tremendous asset to the Australian and Vietnamese water sectors, bringing innovation into practice to deliver safe drinking water to those most in need in rural Vietnam and transferring methods to detect COVID-19 in wastewater,” said the Australian Water Association’s International Manager Paul Smith.
“He has created a bridge between the Vietnamese and Australian water utilities, government agencies, young water professionals and private sector enterprises for knowledge sharing to achieve our common goals for safe, sustainable and secure water services.”
Huy was honored to receive the award and thankful for the opportunities he has been given by the Association.
“To receive this award is something unexpected, given the strength of the applications. It fills me with satisfaction and purpose to be able to apply my PhD research with the University of Technology Sydney to overcome some of the world’s most pressing water management challenges through the Association’s international program. I wish to thank the AWA team for giving me this opportunity,” Huy said.
