TRILITY to upgrade Sydney Water’s Macarthur Water Filtration Plant
A long-standing partnership is helping Sydney Water provide affordable drinking water to its customers in Sydney’s south-west region.
The Macarthur Water Filtration Plant, commissioned in 1995, was Sydney Water’s first public-private partnership. This involved the design, build, finance and 35-year operation and maintenance of the facility by TRILITY.
Now, the 265 ML/day plant is getting an upgrade to ensure the continued reliability and quality of water supply to the Camden, Campbeltown and Wollondilly areas.
The project, which will be carried out by TRILITY, will see construction happening on-site for two years, with the aim of providing a long-term and affordable solution to improving drinking water quality. It is also necessary to guarantee the plant complies with current Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Sydney Water Acting General Manager of Customer Delivery Kevin Conna said the utility and TRILITY had collaborated throughout the lengthy planning process, culminating with the upgrade starting in 2019.
“We’re delighted to continue our collaborative working relationship with TRILITY,” Conna said.
“Together, we will continue to deliver high-quality drinking water to customers.”
TRILITY Managing Director Francois Gouws said being awarded the upgrade was a testament to the relationship between the organisations.
“We are very proud of the partnership we have built with Sydney Water over the past 24 years,” Gouws said.
“It’s a partnership built on collaboration and the exceptional services provided by the Macarthur operational team.”
The upgrade is expected to be finished by the end of 2020.
