An update from the ACT Branch
The ACT Branch saw out the financial year with another highly successful ACT Water Matters conference in late June. The conference was also Nicole Vonarx’s last event as Branch President of the ACT Committee, stepping down after two years fantastic years at the helm. It also marked the commencement of a new and refreshed committee, with Nic Morgan elected as President and Maritsa Kacopieros Vice President.
The ACT Committee also welcomed two new committee members, Ridmi Jayawardana (SMEC) and Cherie Blackburn (ACT Government). The new Committee has been focussing on planning its priorities for the next two years – stay tuned as there is sure to be an action-packed event calendar to help share, connect and inspire the ACT water sector!
The ACT Young Water Professionals recently held a technical tour of Scrivener Dam, which forms the iconic Lake Burley Griffin, followed by a social gathering. Coming up in September is the YWP Hack event on the ‘Water Consequences’ of Net Zero Policies. Finally, don’t forget to lodge a submission for the ACT Water Awards. The ACT Water Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate our achievements and will be presented in February at our annual Water Leaders dinner – the last dinner sold out so be sure to get in early this time!
