"Opportunities for renewable energy in the Australian water sector"
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) was established by the Australian Government to make renewable energy solutions more affordable and increase the amount of renewable energy used in Australia. As a vital component of the Australian economy and livelihood, the Australian water sector is a significant consumer of energy in providing water supply and treatment to the residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors.
In 2015 Beca was commissioned by ARENA to undertake a study to investigate the opportunities and barriers to the use of renewable energy in the Australian water sector, in order to identify areas where ARENA may be able to have the most impact on improving the use of renewable energy within the water sector.
This case study outlines the key objectives, tasks and findings of the investigation to summarise and
