Australian Water Association submission to the Draft Water Quality Advisory Committee
Work Plan and Proposed Priorities for 2015-2018
The Association supports the development of the draft guidelines by the WQAC and agree that all key priorities have been captured. We agree that incorporating the Microbial Health Based Targets (HBT) into the ADWG is a high priority, as is revising the guidelines around disinfection by-products. What is of critical importance is the development of a policies and procedures manual that informs the review of the guidelines.

Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme
Discussion Paper
The Australian Water Association supports the widespread
adoption of water efficiency schemes such as WELS and Smart Approved
Watermark. The Australian Water Association supports the continuation of the WELS scheme and offers
the following suggestions to improve its functioning:
1. That whitegoods are moved to the E3 scheme
2. That tap ware is better integrated with Watermark
3. That WELS engage better with other groups (including utilities,
councils, government & other schemes) to promote the scheme
collaboratively
