About IWA and the IWA Australia Committee

The Australian Water Association (AWA) is the Governing Member for Australia for the International Water Association (IWA), referred to as IWA Australia or IWAA.

The IWAA Committee is recognised as a Branch of the AWA, managed similarly to other branch committees. The committee assists the AWA in fulfilling its responsibilities as a Governing Member of IWA but importantly collaborates ongoingly with the broader IWA to deliver initiatives that provide Australian IWA & AWA members with membership value and a ‘finger on the pulse’ on water matters at a global scale.

With committee terms spanning two years, every year, the IWAA committee invites new nominations for the committee whilst welcoming existing members to re-nominate. Where nominations exceed vacant positions, elections will be held.

The International Water Association (IWA) is the largest international professional membership association dedicated to the improvement of water management worldwide in an environmentally sustainable way. The IWA homepage is IWA members can connect and share information using the online platform IWA Connect.

The IWAA committee meets on a bimonthly basis and facilitates multiple initiatives such as seminars and conferences jointly run in Australia. Only joint IWA and AWA members are eligible to nominate.
