Reid Butler
Reid is the Manager of the BMT WBM Water and Environment Office in Sydney
and has over fifteen years experience in sustainable water management. His key
skills range from stormwater and catchment management planning, water sensitive
urban design, water flow monitoring and water efficiency auditing and the design
of water efficiency improvement system, including water harvesting of all kinds.
Reid has worked with local and state government and industry, combining
technical advice with a focus on capacity building. This allows the organisation
to learn from the process and manage the ongoing implementation of sustainable
water management measures themselves into the future. He has developed and delivered
the IWES course “Essentials of water auditing” for the past two years and provides
Sydney Water advice on auditing techniques.
He has contributed to projects around Australia achieving vast water savings by
applying innovative water recycling techniques, including stormwater, groundwater
and rainwater harvesting, innovative efficiency improvements and improvements to
management practices and staff behaviours.
Damien Connell
Damien Connell has a history of sustainability program development, implementation
and facilitation between commercial, manufacturing and local government bodies and
the residential sector.
He has worked at City West Water leading a team to assist
businesses implement mandatory Water Management Plans, seek opportunities to use water
efficiently and was the architect of the Support 155 Business program, a water efficiency
program for smaller water using busniess customers as part of the Target 155 program.
Damien has a history of working with local government to encourage sustainability policy
and program development and working in the manufacturing sector for a number of years.
Damien is now part of a strategic working group reserching and analysing future water supply
and demand opportunities for the future of Melbourne.
Mark Henry Rubarenzya
Mark is a qualified
civil and water resources engineer with experience primarily in
Australia, Eastern Africa, and Europe. Mark has worked on a range of
projects involving hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, Coal Seam Gas
development, water balance modelling, and catchment/stormwater
management. He has a high level of computer literacy and modelling
skills including hydrological and ecological modelling, stakeholder land
use mapping, and use of a range of industry standard 1D, 2D, and 3D
packages. Mark is committed to the profession and serves on committees
of various national and international organizations including the
Australian Water Association, the Stormwater Industry Association of
Australia, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Julian Gray
Julian Gray is CEO of the Smart Approved
WaterMark, Australia’s labelling program for products and services that
save water. He combines an educational background in international
communications and environmental science with 20 years’ environmental
marketing and communications experience in the public, not-for-profit
and private sectors. Julian has been involved in with a series of
national, regional and international environmental branding projects in
Australia and Europe including the H2Oz recruitment brand. Julian is a
member of a number of professional organisations including the
International Water Association, Chartered Institute of Marketing and
Public Relations Institute of Australia. A Macquarie University Alumni,
Julian is based in Sydney.
Stuart Stapely
Stuart Stapely is a chartered water infrastructure professional with over
16 years of specialist knowledge in non-revenue water reduction and clean
water civil engineering. He has a dedicated personal interest in the water
industry and is passionate about making a positive impact on the natural and
built environments.
His proficient project management skills have been gained through responsibility
for a portfolio of diverse projects across Australia and overseas. Stuart's wealth
of experience has been developed from the ground level up. He has the full range of
non-revenue water skills from active leakage control and field monitoring through to
designing water loss management strategies and auditing water authorities.
Stuart is the Victorian State Manager for WaterGroup, who develop strategies
to secure water and save money through cost effective and sustainable solutions.
