Leadership: How to become a more effective change agent
  • AWA is pleased to support, through both the Sustainability Specialist Network and the Young Water Professionals Group, a series of interactive training sessions designed to support practitioners who wish to be more effective at promoting sustainable practices and policies.  Presented by Dr André Taylor, this full day course focuses on the leadership behaviours and strategies effective sustainability change agents typically use. Workshops will be held in city CBD's for ease of access.

    Duration

    One day

    Key Dates*

    Melbourne, 3 September 2013 and Brisbane, 5 September 2013

     * AWA reserves the right to withdraw events if minimum numbers are not met.  Registration will be accepted until ten days prior to the event, upon which a decision will be made on the status of the course.

    Who should attend?

    The Course will suit practitioners who:

    • wish to be more effective at driving sustainable practices in their organisations (e.g. water recycling, energy efficiency, water sensitive urban design, total water cycle management, etc.);
    • are keen to learn new approaches to exerting influence and driving change, particularly across organisational boundaries;
    • are prepared to reflect on their own leadership behaviours and share these with others in the course; and
    • are ready to change their leadership behaviours and prepared to make the time to implement some actions following the workshop.
    The course has been designed for professionals at an entry to middle-management level who are seeking to promote more sustainable practices within their organisations. Although the primary target audience is water management practitioners, most of the course is also relevant to sustainability practitioners from other industries. It has been designed to be an ideal lead-in to a 9-12 month leadership development program.
