Welcome to the Queensland Branch of AWA and we hope that you will take the time out of your busy schedule to come along to one of our many informative and engaging technical events. These events will provide you with the opportunity to not only expand your knowledge of the water industry in Queensland but also to network and catchup with fellow water colleagues in a relaxing environment – this is what the Qld branch is well known for.
The QLD Government are seeking ideas and views, through a discussion paper, to help shape our water future and influence the development of the strategy.
The discussion paper focuses on water and sewerage service providers as the cornerstone of the water sector and their role in the supply of water for human needs. To read the AWA Submission, please click here.

Program 2013 (Full)
The Australian water industry is facing a significant skills challenge requiring both recruitment and retention strategies. The water industry would encounter serious workforce loss in the medium to long term future unless there was an explicit attempt to transfer tacit knowledge and consequently retain skills and knowledge within the industry.
This Mentoring program will be an effective way to develop skills via the transfer of knowledge from experienced to less-experienced personnel. The program was launched in March with over 30 pairs / partnerships developed. The 2014 Program intake will be advertised in November to February each year.
The QLD Branch of the Australian Water Association are always interested to hear from our members with their ideas for technical presentations. In order for the committee to assess the suitability and include the presentation on the event calendar, please provide a brief overview addressing the points in this document.
The venue we use for the Technical Presentations is theShip Inn, South Brisbane.
