Welcome to the Queensland Branch of AWA and we hope that you will take the time out of your busy schedule to come along to one of our many informative and engaging technical events. These events will provide you with the opportunity to not only expand your knowledge of the water industry in Queensland but also to network and catchup with fellow water colleagues in a relaxing environment – this is what the Qld branch is well known for.
WaterQ: a 30-year strategy for Queensland's water sector is a whole-of-sector strategy that sets out a high-level framework of priorities and actions to address the changes and challenges facing our water sector. It will continually adjust to reflect changing community interests and aspirations, and keep pace with innovation and technology. WaterQ Website - more information.
WaterQ is one of several sector-specific strategies that will help deliver the Queensland Plan's shared vision for our state: a place that is vibrant and prosperous with the right catalysts to drive our economy, regions and communities.

The Australian water industry is facing a significant skills challenge requiring both recruitment and retention strategies. The water industry would encounter serious workforce loss in the medium to long term future unless there was an explicit attempt to transfer tacit knowledge and consequently retain skills and knowledge within the industry.
This Mentoring program will be an effective way to develop skills via the transfer of knowledge from experienced to less-experienced personnel. The program is an annual event with the launch held early in the first quarter of the year. More information.
The QLD Branch of the Australian Water Association are always interested to hear from our members with their ideas for technical presentations.
