Winners from the NT Water Awards will compete for the national title, gaining national recognition from across the Australian water industry.

Water Professional of the Year
The Water Professional of the Year is awarded to individuals who have displayed a sustained passion and continued commitment to the water industry, and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and influence in the water sector.
Eligibility
Open to all individuals working in, or recently retired from the water industry.
Criteria
- Individuals will be respected for both their personal and professional contribution to the Australian and International water sector.
- Individuals must be recognised for their leadership and influence amongst their colleagues and peers within the water sector.
- Individuals must be recognised for raising the profile of careers in the water industry.
- Individuals must be held in high esteem for the mentoring roles they play to junior water industry professionals.
- Individuals must be recognised for their contribution to water awareness in the community.
Water Professional of the Year Award Nomination Form
Young Water Professional of the Year
The Young Water Professional of the Year Award recognises young water professionals who have had outstanding career achievement to date and who have the potential to play a large and influential role in the water industry.
Eligibility
This award is open to all individuals under 35 years of age.
Criteria
- Nominees must have contributed to the water industry.
- Nominees must have raised the profile of careers in the water industry.
- Nominees must have raised water awareness in the community.
- Nominees must be recognised as a leader, communicator and/or educator amongst their colleagues, peers and the broader communiity.
Young Water Professional of the Year Nomination Form
Undergraduate Water Prize
The Undergradute Water Prize encourages and rewards students for excellence in the field of water studies and research, and provides a forum for students to display their academic excellence and research findings to future employees, clients and the water industry.
Eligibility
Open to students enrolled or recently graduated (within last twelve months) in a university or tertiary institute within Australia whose final year project is on a water industry related topic.
Criteria
- Relevance of the project to the water industry
- Quality of technical content
- Innovation and originality
- Paper and presentation
Undergraduate Water Prize Nomination Form
Program Innovation Award
The Program Innovation Award showcases significant and innovative environmental or sustainability programs within the water industry.
Eligibility
Open to all organisations within the water industry.
Criteria
- Innovative, unique or other outstanding features of the initiative which sets it apart from common practice among comparable programs.
- Relevance to the Australian water industry.
- Demonstrated or strongly anticipated environmental and/or water resource benefits as a result of the nominated initiative.
- Demonstrated or strongly anticipated social benefits as a result of the nominated initiative.
- Incorporates sustainable design principles (social, economic, environmental).
- Evidence that the initiative was carried out or came to fruition during the two years preceding the nomination date.
Program Innovation Award Nomination Form
Infrastructure Innovation Award
The Infrastrcture Innovation Award showcases significant and innovative infrastructure projects and initiatives within the water industry.
Eligibility
Open to all organisations within the water industry.
Criteria
- Innovative, unique or other outstanding features of the initiative which sets it apart from common practice among comparable enterprises.
- Relevance to the Australian water industry and how it will bring innovation and new solutions to the sector.
- Demonstrated or strongly anticipated environmental and/or water resource benefits as a result of the nominated initiative.
- Demonstrated or strongly anticipated social benefits as a result of the nominated initiative.
- Incorporates sustainable design principles (social, economic, environmental).
- Evidence that the initiative was carried out or came to fruition during the two years preceding the nomination date.
Infrastructure Innovation Award Nomination Form
Research Innovation Award
The Research Innovation Award aims to encourage innovation, constant environmental improvement and sustainable management of Australia’s water resources. Specifically, this award provides recognition for an environmentally significant research project and/or initiative. Sustainable use of Australia’s water resources is at the heart of this Award.
Eligibility
Open to any Australian institution, organisation, private individual or company that has made a contribution in water research. The outcomes of the research must add to the conservation or better use of water resources, knowledge of water technology, sociology, economics or culture aspects.
Criteria
The detailed criteria will be based on the nature of each nomination, since the range of possibilities is wide, but the overall attributes sought will include the following:
- Significant contribution to water research that improves the use or management of water or furthers our knowledge of water in any discipline
- Demonstrated achievement in water research (such as awards, honours, accolades)
- Demonstrated commitment to communicating research widely to enhance the water professions’ knowledge of water or to improve the use or management of water (such as being published in journals, presentation at conferences, coverage in mainstream media)
- Evidence of industry acceptance, recognition or other factors, which indicate the project exemplifies superior practice or performance
