NSW Site Tour- Flow Systems, Central Park- 10 February 2017

A group of over forty water industry professionals visited Sydney’s Central Park development last Friday for a tour of the site’s underground water recycling centre, the largest in the world of its kind.

Andrew Horton, Executive Manager Operations of Flow Systems, provided attendees with an insight into the design and operation of the facility as well as an in-depth tour of the major processes at the site. The tour demonstrated how integrated water cycle management can greatly improve water and energy efficiency of urban developments.

The Flow Systems water recycling facility will service over 20,000 residents, workers and visitors daily, and can harness water from seven different sources. Incorporating Membrane Bioreactor and Reverse Osmosis technology, the system is designed to treat 1 ML/day of water, with the treated effluent used for non-potable uses in dwellings, for irrigation of Central Park’s unique vertical garden and for use in the Central Thermal Plant.
