Hubei delegation visits Australian Water Association
Posted: 21 August 2017
The Australian Water Association recently supported a delegation of 18 Chinese government officials representing the Hubei Provincial Committee Organization Department. The Hubei Province is a key water supply source for many northern regions and is well known for the site of the Three Gorges Dam. The province is currently experiencing challenges around pollution management of its river systems
as well as the ongoing threat of drought
The purpose of their visit to Australia was to gain a greater understanding about Australia’s approach to sustainable water management, water recycling and urban and rural areas of water resources management. The Association provided a brief overview on Australia’s water reform journey, the role of innovation in enabling security of water supplies and the governance arrangements that drove Australia’s water reform journey including pricing, water allocations and management of the environment.
The Association continues to play a role in capacity building for many countries overseas as part of our International Program. We see value in our members meeting with In-bound tour groups to demonstrate the many technologies and how they are applied. Should you wish to get involved with the Association’s in-bound programs please contact Robbie Goedecke
